Jim Wheeler became the Chairman of Ayers Saint Gross in 2016 after serving as firm president from 2007-2015. He joined the firm in 1987 and retired from full-time work at the end of 2017, and served as Board Chair through 2019. With more than 35 years of experience in all aspects of architecture and planning, Jim has written and lectured extensively on trends in higher education. His responsibilities included business and financial management as well as community engagement. For 17 years he has spearheaded the firm’s engagement with Beechfield Elementary/Middle school in west Baltimore. He has been an active volunteer for the United Way of Central Maryland for 25 years and served as Board Chair from 2015-2017.
