Luanne Greene

Luanne Greene is President of Ayers Saint Gross, with more than 30 years of design and planning experience. She is a strong advocate for smart and sustainable planning strategies that address the needs of campus and community. Luanne has worked with numerous mission-driven institutions across the nation, including: Carnegie Mellon University, Smithsonian Institution, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the University of Virginia, and Washington University in St. Louis. Her approach to planning and design has helped many institutions develop successful solutions that balance a bold vision with practical implementation issues.

In addition to her work with Ayers Saint Gross, Luanne also a member of the Society for College and University Planning (SCUP), a Fellow in the American Institute of Architects (FAIA) and is active in the Baltimore community. She received both her Bachelor of Science in Architecture and Master of Architecture degrees from the University of Virginia.

Mike Barber

Mike Barber is an associate principal at Ayers Saint Gross and has more than 30 years of experience in all phases of architecture, with an expertise in project management of academic buildings. He is an exceptional project manager with a proven track record in supervising multiple projects with complex requirements, tight deadlines, and significant budgetary constraints. Among his successes are the John and Frances Angelos Law Center at the University of Baltimore, the first LEED Platinum law school in the nation; the Earl G. Graves School of Business and Management at Morgan State University; and the School of Nursing at Duke University. Mike is currently working on the Baltimore Convention Center and the School of Pharmacy at the University of Maryland, Eastern Shore.

Glenn Birx

Glenn Birx is a principal and Vice President of Ayers Saint Gross with more than 35 years of experience. He leads the technical and management side of the firm, overseeing contracts, quality control, construction documents, and administration. Glenn is a nationally recognized expert in Building Information Modeling (BIM) and has written, lectured, and consulted on the benefits of the software. His longstanding contributions to the profession include serving as president and board member of the Maryland and Baltimore AIA. He helped steer a recent revision of the Architects’ Handbook of Professional Practice and wrote the chapter on defining project services.

Jack Black

Jack Black is a Vice President who runs the Tempe, Arizona office of Ayers Saint Gross. He has more than 25 years of experience in all aspects of architecture, from planning to design and construction. Jack has worked with clients from various sectors including higher education, government, cultural, and commercial on a wide range of building types. Among his Arizona projects are the University of Arizona’s Health Science Education Building and the Biomedical Sciences Partnership Building in Phoenix and the High Country Conference Center in Flagstaff.

Adam Bridge

With nearly 20 years of experience, Adam Bridge is an associate principal in the architecture studio. Having held teaching positions at Morgan State University, Maryland Institute College of Art, and University of Maryland, Adam has acquired the skills to build a team that rallies around design and a collaborative culture. He also developed a sensitivity to what end-users are saying, and how to design simple, well-performing, and beautiful buildings. He is very interested in any project that requires a reading list, which is why he is drawn to university and cultural projects.

Alice Brooks

Alice Brooks is an associate principal with more than 15 years of experience, with work ranging from cultural institutions to student housing for higher education. In addition to her role as project manager, she spent three years as Chair of Ayers Saint Gross’s Continuing Education Program and was a key member in the re-evaluation of the firm’s professional development goals and strategic plan as it relates to advancement. Alice is a current Co-Chair of the Equity in Architecture Committee, AIA Baltimore Chapter, and was a member of the Mid-Atlantic Women’s Leadership Summit 2017 planning committee. She is a participant in the Leadership Baltimore County Class of 2017.

Tim Burkett

Tim Burkett is the firm’s Director of Operations and brings more than 25 years of experience in the architecture and engineering industry with interests in leadership development, project partnering, and risk management. Tim focuses on operational leverage, cohesion, and process optimization to improve client experience and project deliverables. Tim is a member of Chesapeake and Potomac Chapters of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) Board of Directors. Serving in an advocacy role, he educates members of Congress on issues of importance to Type 1 Diabetes.

Joe Burkhardt

Joe Burkhardt is an associate principal with more than 25 years of experience in landscape architectural design, focusing on urban redevelopment, parks, and institutional design. His project management range includes site design from small, intricately detailed gardens and urban courtyards to large corporate facilities and college campuses. Joe’s passion is rooted in seeing built projects that directly support the well-being of individuals, provide positive experiences for users, and connect people to the outdoors. He is an adjunct professor at the University of Maryland, where he teaches grading, construction, and stormwater management.

Duane Carter

With expertise in building simulation and analysis, including conceptual energy modeling and daylighting analyses, Duane examines the performance impacts of early design decisions. Duane also brings expertise in Passive House design and certification, net-zero design, healthy building materials, and bike infrastructure.

Recent projects include Frostburg State University Education & Health Sciences Center; Howard Community College’s Science, Engineering, and Technology Building; and Washington University in St. Louis’ Bryan Hall Renovation and New Pedestrian Bridge. Her projects span strategic planning, programming, and physical planning for university campuses and individual schools, colleges, and administrative units. Over nearly a decade, she has helped institutions including Carnegie Mellon University, Washington University in St. Louis, and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill create compelling campus adjacencies and dynamic mixed use precincts, enhance the student and residential experience, expand open space networks, and develop phased implementation plans to realize their vision.
