In order to ignite entrepreneurial spirit, commercialize technologies, and foster collaboration, University of Maryland and Ayers Saint Gross collaborated on an Innovation District mixed-use plan that provides an important link between the residential and commercial districts of College Park. The goal is to inspire and empower students and faculty to translate their passions and creative ideas into real-world solutions to economic, societal, technological, and cultural problems. Ayers Saint Gross worked with the University to provide a programmatic framework with that supports the University’s three-part mission of research, teaching, and services to the community and region.
College Park and UMD officials present a new plan to create an innovation district that transforms Route 1 land into housing, retail, offices, and laboratory buildings.
College Park is booming. Nearly 20 projects, including two that Ayers Saint Gross has collaborated on (Edward St. John Learning & Teaching Center and the Innovation District), are underway.
