Ayers Saint Gross designed the State of Maryland’s first monument dedicated to women veterans. The Women in the Military Service Monument is located at the Chesapeake House, a boldly-designed travel plaza on Interstate 95 that draws inspiration from the Chesapeake Bay, the largest estuary in the United States. The monument is a granite monolith with three angular plaques engraved with inspirational quotes from veterans. Under a canopy of gingko trees chosen for their vibrant yellow fall leaves, the contemplative space provides a space for reflection and education.
Ayers Saint Gross is pleased to announce its Interstate 95 Maryland House and Chesapeake House Travel Plazas won USGBC Maryland’s 2015 Small Commercial Project award!
The Mid-Atlantic state’s architectural chapter doled out 22 awards to professional firms, including Ayers Saint Gross’ Travel Plazas and University of Delaware ISE Lab projects.
