The Sojourner Truth Library, constructed in 1969, needed to offer the expanded services and expectations of a university library in the digital age. In addition to study spaces, improvements include renovation of the courtyard east facade with a glazed entrance vestibule and adjacent bays to provide interior daylight and an inviting exterior. The addition of exterior glazing at the west wall of the library main and concourse level reading areas reveals the views of the Shawangunk Mountains. Other improvements include group study, conference spaces, library furniture, new main level public restrooms, and a new central circulation desk.
A day-long celebration at SUNY New Paltz’s Sojourner Truth Library marked the completion of an extensive $14.3 million project to upgrade the Library.
