The 45,000 SF National Library for the Study of George Washington at Mount Vernon, the premier repository for knowledge about our first president’s achievements and legacy, is sited on 15 acres within walking distance of Washington’s home. The landscape design was developed to preserve existing trees, minimize site disturbance, manage stormwater, and control sediment. Plantings consist of native deciduous and evergreen species. Drifts of George Washington’s favorite trees, including dogwoods and redbuds, add spring and fall interest.
