The area near downtown Indianapolis, adjacent to the campus of IUPUI and major medical centers, is poised to become a bustling hub for scientific collaboration and discovery. This high-profile, mixed-use innovation district provides an attractive ecosystem for the target sectors of biosciences, software, sports, logistics, and advanced manufacturing to cluster and grow. The master plan envisions adaptive reuse and new construction centered around a main plaza and park space. Recommendations include a pedestrian-friendly street network, the activation of the riverfront with a new park, and optimized connections into the district. Ayers Saint Gross also developed a set of design guidelines for the district, to ensure new streets and buildings meet architectural and landscape standards.
