The Integrated Science Initiative enhances outstanding scholarship and educational opportunities through integration, proximity, flexible adaptation, and faculty growth. This master plan satisfies programmatic needs with a mix of new construction, renovations, and adaptive reuse. It focuses on high utilization of specialized, shared spaces that support interdisciplinary goals, and identifies pressing needs in Physics and Chemistry. For Physics, the team quantified and qualified those needs, including current and future research directions, and teaching/learning paradigms. A thematic program was subsequently developed to characterize the Chemistry Department’s vision for the future. The planning effort resulted in the renovation Bryan Hall to meet Chemistry’s needs and investment in Millstone Plaza to enhance pedestrian connectivity.
