Tourists to Alfred I. du Pont’s luxurious estate are introduced to his legacy in this stone and timber building. The linear visitor center is sited off the main approach to the property and oriented toward a shuttle depot for transportation to the Versailles-inspired mansion and gardens. After buying a ticket, visitors proceed through a museum-quality exhibit relating du Pont’s life and times to major historical events. An intimate theater situated off the gallery provides the opportunity to view an introductory film about Nemours before touring the estate.
