Science Center Addition

Loyola University Maryland, Baltimore, Maryland

Completion: 2011
Cost: $12.5 million
Size: 16,500 GSF

This major expansion of a 1977 campus building is designed to meet Loyola’s goal of increasing enrollment in its science programs. The four-story addition provides classrooms, laboratories and support facilities for the university’s biology, chemistry, engineering and computer science programs. Interdisciplinary education and research are encouraged through departmental adjacencies and shared facilities, including collaborative learning spaces. The new structure is built of fieldstone, concrete and glass to harmonize with the existing science building next door.
