Ayers Saint Gross developed a program of academic spaces and a campus master plan for the new Deraya University, on the upper Nile in central Egypt. The campus plan, inspired by the Nile as an artery of knowledge, creates a unifying green spine connecting several academic cores to residential quadrangles. Academic facilities include classrooms and research labs, schools of computer science, pharmacy, dentistry, and nursing. A prominent administration building anchors the northern end of the spine, while shared student facilities are strategically located and serve as focal points. At full build out, the campus will accommodate 10,000 students.
