The Town Hall Education Arts and Recreation Campus, or “THEARC”, is a dynamic centerpiece for this newly resurgent South East community. The program provided a challenging opportunity to incorporate a group of disparate facilities, specifically tailored to the needs of the nine non-profit agencies, into a cohesive whole under one roof. Consisting of two buildings, the first structure is home to the Covenant House Washington, an organization founded to address widespread problems of homelessness and poverty among teenagers and young adults. The Education and Arts Building is a two-story, structure that features a 375-seat theater, orchestra pit and scene shop, and a gymnasium.
