Clyde Street House Feasibility Study and Interior Renovation
Carnegie Mellon University
Pittsburgh, PA, United States
In 2012, Carnegie Mellon University acquired several buildings and worked with Ayers Saint Gross to develop a master plan for integrating the properties into the campus. The initial implementation of the plan involved renovating an existing group home into student housing and common spaces. The team assessed the three-story building’s functional and spatial potential based on its physical condition and code requirements related to egress and accessibility. The architects successfully preserved the historic character in converting the spaces to a shared living area and kitchen, and carefully adding contemporary amenities.
