The Baltimore Museum of Art has had 10 different additions over a 75-year period. The most significant addition changed the museum’s original plan and resulted in a compromised layout for the display of its collections. Ayers Saint Gross’ new master plan has three main goals: to reopen the original entry and reestablish bi-axial symmetrical organization; to reinstall the BMA’s world-class collection and provide state-of-the-art care; to develop a facility plan to expand its audience and provide a more welcoming, accessible experience for all visitors.
