Rutgers University’s School of Law is situated in an urban neighborhood in Camden, New Jersey. Following the Campus Master Plan, the new building was sited at the edge of an existing parking lot in order to maximize open space. The new courtyard and plaza occupy the remaining portions of the lot and provide outdoor gathering spaces for law students and faculty. A restrained hardscape palette and shade tree plantings help define this as a collegiate setting. New streetscape and pedestrian connections link the School of Law back to the rest of Rutgers’ urban satellite campus.
